“Palestine is more than a memory” said Ghasan Knanfni in his book, Returning to Haifa.
Today commemorates a dark day for the life of Palestinians called The Nakba. 72 years ago, my grandparents were forced from their village Al-Jora, from their house and land to live in a tent with inhumane conditions not only my grandparents but 780,000 other Palestinians left and lived in refugee camps in different countries.
My grandparents grew up. However, they never forgot their home and the beautiful life they were forced to leave. I inherited their love for my village from the stories they told me. In Gaza, I’m a refugee, just just like many other Palestinians who had to escape to survive in different cities" - Malak Mattar, 2020
